I play pickup games every weekend with the same crew.  I noticed one of the regulars at the courts starting doing more exercises before and after games.  And we all saw that his game was on fire and with increased vertical nearly dunking on every lay-up. I asked him one day what his secret is. He said he had been training from the Jump Manual and already put 6 inches on his vertical. </p>
<p>I found the Top 3 program out there on ways to increase vertical jump and researched them for a week. </p>
<p>Air Alert- Looks good and was the cheapest of the bunch but after reading reviews I found that the program was disorganized and content was week. So I looked on. </p>
<p>Vertical Explosion- At first it looked really good then I found out the author can’t even dunk. Imagine that, teaching way to increase vertical jump, and you can’t dunk! Forget about that. </p>

<p>Tip #1 The first way to increase your vertical jump might sound obvious, but being a trainer I see so many guys make slow approaches. If you want to jump higher you have to run faster </p>
<p>Running Fast = Jumping Higher </p>
<p>When you start learning ways to increase you vertical  you will by nature take a slower approach because your body is not trained how to jump. Watch any high-jumper and you will see they run as fast as they possible on their approach. </p>
<p>Tip #2 To convert your speed into a high jump you need to GET LOW.  The only way to increase your vertical jump while you are running full speed is to take an exaggerated last step or “penultimate step” This is the step before you plant your feet to jump. <p>Tip #3 Now you are full speed and just took the penultimate step and have to now decide to jump off 1 leg or 2. There are several different jump styles that you need to try out before deciding which one works best. I like many of the world’s best dunkers take off 2 feet. <p>Tip#4 After the penultimate step whichever jump stance you use, you need to lower the ball or your hands as low as possible. Obviously you will lift them when you start your jump. </p>
<p>Tip #5  Neuromuscular Repatterning.  Simply means repetition. If you want to increase your vertical jump you need to practice your jump at least 10-15 times per day. Best if you have a rim and go for full force jumps each time. Work on your form with each jump, video cameras are  great tools. Run Fast, get low (penultimate step), jump stance, ball low and explode. </p>
