Athletes often wonder what is the most important exercise to increase vertical jump. In this article I’m going to discuss one vertical jump exercise that is considered by some to be the single most important exercise for increasing your leap.
These exercises come in many forms ie. plyometrics and/or weight training. One effective jump exercise involves plyometrics and an exercise known more commonly as a “depth jump”.
Why this exercise results in a significant increase is because of what the exercise is targeting. The depth jump has the capacity to overload the “falling” portion of your jump, more so than any other program.
This workout requires you to increase your ability to stop, your ability to power jump (explode) back up and the overall ability to increase your power output by harnessing the elastic energy of your muscles and tendons. You may be familiar with this exercise and are already using it in your jump workout.
However, if you have never heard of the depth jump and are eager to start implementing it into your program it is a relatively simple but very effective exercise.
It simply involves stepping onto a box of a particular height drop off and immediately when you make contact with the ground you do a vertical back up as quickly and as high as possible.
This simple exercise is one of many jump exercises to incorporate into your training workout.
If you are serious about increasing your leap you need to find the right program that will meet your needs.
The best program for you will be able to be customized to your own individual and athletic needs and circumstances. Programs customize their workouts differently. One may concentrate on an individual’s weaknesses, while another program will customize its program through performing repetitious exercise.
The best program will be able to customize your workout precisely according to your needs and not someone else’s. It will also be able to individually take into account your weight, your height, your health, your fitness level and ultimately, your jump goal.
It will also offer multiple different training levels. The best program will increase your jump strength through both weight training and plyometrics.
I’ve briefly discussed what the best program should contain. Let me know touch on what it should never contain:
1. Outdated information from someone who has no experience in the industry
2. The same exercises that you used when you were 10 (years out of date)
3. Exhaustive sets and reps of the same vertical jump exercises over and over again.
4. Overtraining. Do not do a vertical jump workout every day.
5. Squat overtraining.

Many athletes have a lot of trouble increasing the power of their one-legged jump. This article will reveal the trick to harnessing your horizontal momentum fast with an easy exercise to increase vertical jump.
Athletes consider a large vertical leap very important in giving them numerous athletic career choices. In fact, your size of your jump is one of the key things that scouts take into account when looking to buy professional athletes for their teams.
It is not unusual for one athlete to be able to jump high off one leg, while another athlete will experience much more momentum with the other leg.
Maximum downward power, however, is always achieved with two legs. The trick is being able to achieve this same momentum by jumping off one leg.
The key is to do some practice. The next time you’re at your basketball court, run as fast as you can to the free throw line and then jump up with just one leg. When you have done this mark in some way exactly where your feet landed on the ground.
You will notice a difference from the free throw line to where you landed. The key is to minimize this distance to not waste any part of your vertical. When this exercise gets easier you can try doing it with a two legged takeoff which is even more powerful.
Toe raises will also build up your calf muscles. It is a very easy exercise to perform. All that is really required is to stand on your toes, one at a time or simultaneously with both legs, and then pull down and repeat the exercise. Best results are achieved if you do this workout slowly.
If you are serious about increasing your jump you need to find the right program that will meet your needs.
The best program for you will be able to be customized to your own individual and athletic needs and circumstances. Vertical jump programs customize their workouts differently. One may concentrate on an individual’s weaknesses, while another program will customize its workout through performing repetitious exercise.

Advanced vertical jump training exercises are a faster method for athletes to increase and improve their vertical jump. This article will discuss some advanced training exercises that give faster results.
If you have been doing jump exercises for a period of time then you will already be aware of the importance of doing these exercises correctly. Additionally, doing the same old workouts time and time again can result to boredom and a loss of motivation and an actual decrease in your vertical.
That’s why it’s important to spice up your exercises whenever you get the chance. In this article I’m going to share with you two powerful jump exercises that will add extra intensity to your workouts.
The Medicine Ball
Using a medicine ball is a great way to add intensity to your vertical jump exercises. Being unable to swing your arms and having the extra weight of a medicine ball will make your exercises all the more harder to perform. An easy way to increase the intensity of your exercise is by increasing your weight. You can do this with a medicine ball, ankle weights or a weight plate. Of course, the medicine ball means you can’t rely on your arms to help you. Ankle weights and a weight plate won’t give you this kind of restriction.
Elastic Resistance Bands
Elastic resistance bands are another great way of adding intensity to your vertical jump workouts. They are readily available from most sports stores. When you place elastic resistance bands around the back of your neck down to your feet you will actually be able to perform any jump movement smoothly and fluently.
It’s important to alleviate boredom whenever you do your jump exercise workout.

Mention the phrase vertical jump and many athletes worldwide pose many questions wanting to know the ultimate quick fix to increase and improve vertical jump. This article will discuss some of the most frequently asked questions about how to increase and improve vertical jump.
FAQ 1: Why is a vertical jump increase so important?
An increase to vertical jump is now considered so vital to athletes of all different sports, not just basketball, worldwide because it is now one of the main measurements that is used to measure an athlete’s athletic capabilities. In fact the vertical jump is now considered so critical that it is the only measurement at the initial NBL assessment.
FAQ 2: Is it hard to see an increase in a short period of time?
No it’s actually very easy. Of course there is persistence and a little hard work involved but once you know the right exercises to incorporate into your workout program, what part of the body to focus your reps on, and are following the right nutritional advice including what supplements you should be taking you can actually see an increase in a week or so.
FAQ 3: Do I need to do a workout every day to see a signficant increase?
Absolutely not. In fact, I recommend that you don’t do a vertical jump workout every day for two very important reasons: One, your muscles need to rest. If you overdo your workout and do it every single day you are doing too much and are diminishing the chance of a jump increase. In fact, by doing it every day you could reduce your increase significantly.
Two, if you do a workout every day you run the risk of injury. If you get injured (as many professional athletes have been by overdoing things) then you can guarantee no jump increase while you and your body are in recovery.
FAQ 4: How Do I Measure Vertical Jump?
It’s very easy to measure. Firstly, stand with your side against a wall and extend your arm high above your head and take a measurement, or have someone else do it for you either with chalk, sticky tape, or even saliva. That is your first measurement.
Then take a measurement with you doing a vertical jump as high as you can from a standing position, standing against the wall again. Take the second measurement away from the first and you have your jump measurement.
FAQ 5: How Do I Choose The Best Program For Me?
That’s a great question. There are so many jump programs promising outstanding super quick results that it becomes really confusing trying to choose the best program for you. There are some very important factors that must be included in the best program for you: One, it can be customized to whatever level of fitness you are at and what age you are.
Every athlete is different and for this reason it’s essential that the program can be catered perfectly to your needs. Two, the best program would focus on more than just exercises. Diet, nutrition and supplements are an important factor in your workout program and must be included. Further, the best program wouldn’t just focus on stretching, plyometrics or weight training. The best program would include all of these exercise models.
Additionally, the best program must be able to be customized to improvements in your jump. If you do the same reps etc all the way along you won’t see as significant jump increase than if you were altering your program as your fitness and vertical increase progressed.
FAQ 6: Where Can I Find A Jump Program?
There are a number of free programs available online. However, as with many things in life you do get what you pay for. It’s important to look at programs that have a proven track record that are recommended by people whose opinions you value.

Wait! You won’t believe how easy it is to <a href="http://www.increase-and-improve-vertical-jump.com” rel=”nofollow”>improve vertical jump.

Athletes wanting to increase vertical jump are often stumped about what major muscles they should be focusing all their attention on. This article will dispel all the major muscle myths for a super vertical jump.
In your quest for more height it’s critical that major muscle groups are not ignored for the more common muscles focused on in programs.
Here’s a brief rundown of the major muscles that you should not be ignoring in your quest for a super jump:
1. Abdominals. Many athletes are surprised at this. However, a standing vertical jump actually uses your abdominals in a very similar way that abs are used in running. Although abdominal crunches are one of the most hated exercises they are important and should never be ignored in your quest for a super jump.
2. Calf muscles. Your calf muscles are critical in giving your jump the power it needs to really reach amazing new heights. There are many calf muscle exercises that can be easily done at home without weights. Such exercises include jump roping (with or without weights), toe raises (with or without weights), and rapid stair climbing.
3. Hamstrings. Of course a lot of focus is always put on the quads, however, as the opposing muscle group hams are really just as important and should not be ignored. It’s important that there be as little imbalance in your workout as possible to achieve the best increase as you possibly can.
4. Quads. The quads are the major focus of a lot of workout programs, however, they should never be the only focus. In fact, no part of your body should be the “only” focus as your body is one unit and must operate in harmony within all its muscle groups.
5. Gluts. In fact, the gluts are one of the key exercises and are the key in any jumping activity.
If you want a super vertical jump then I advise you to focus on all major muscle groups to increase your vertical jump. It’s important that no muscle group is absolutely ignored and that you work all of these five groups equally.
However, if you feel that one of these muscle groups is, in fact, weaker than another muscle group then to get a leap increase simply go to the gym and do a specific workout that targets only that one muscle group.
With just a little commitment on your part and the right guidance you will be on your way to a substantial increase in no time at all.
If you are serious about increasing your vertical jump you need to find the right program that will meet your needs.
The best program for you will be able to be customized to your own individual and athletic needs and circumstances. Programs customize their workouts differently. One may concentrate on an individual’s weaknesses, while another vertical jump program will customize its program through performing repetitious exercise.
The best program will be able to customize your workout precisely according to your needs and not someone else’s. It will also be able to individually take into account your weight, your height, your health, your fitness level and ultimately, your vertical jump goal.
It will also offer multiple different training levels. The best vertical jump program will increase your vertical jump strength through both weight training and plyometrics.

Athletes are often stumped at how to start to improve their vertical leap. To get you started this article will reveal how to improve leap fast with a range of easy exercises. Athletes consider a large vertical leap very important in giving them numerous athletic career choices.
A range of athletes benefit from an increase in vertical leap. These include basketballers, footballers, high jumpers and long jumpers, just to name a few.
Before you start any workout it is critical that you warm up your body sufficiently to avoid any injury. The best way to do this is to perform a number of stretches or jogging on the spot.
Jump Rope – Jump rope exercises are a great way to condition the body and tone the legs.
Stair Running – Simply running up and down stairs can be a very effective way to get the heart rate up while working hard on the legs. You can also try these as a warm up exercise.
Deep Knee Bend Exercises – These exercises involve bending your knees very slowly while ensuring that your back is completely straight at the same time.
Simply crouch down very slowly as low as you can go and then come up again. Do this for 10-15 times.
Toe Raises – Performing toe raises will really build up your calf muscles.
The best program will be able to customize your workout precisely according to your needs and not someone else’s. It will also be able to individually take into account your weight, your height, your health, your fitness level and ultimately, your vertical jump goal.
It will also offer multiple different vertical jump training levels. The best program will increase your strength through both weight training and plyometrics.

Many athletes mistakenly believe that the best way to increase vertical jump is by focusing their vertical exercises specifically for the legs. However, if you are not performing any exercises targeting your upper body then you are allowing your upper body to become your weakest link.
The human body operates as a unit and your body is only as strong as your weakest link. Many athletes believe wrongly that the only exercise to increase vertical targets the lower body. In fact, you can actually ruin the potential to increase your jump by purely focusing on your legs. If you want to optimize your leap to its potential then don’t allow any part of your body to become your weakest link.
Here is a quick rundown of the principles that must be followed when performing upper body exercises to increase your leap:
It is important when designing an upper body vertical jump exercise that your program follows the same principles that you have created for your lower body workout.
If a leap increase is your focus it’s important that you measure your sets, reps and rest on a workout system that has been specifically designed around your unique athletic abilities and desired jump increase.
As with the quads and hams, it is very important that there your opposing muscle group imbalances ie biceps to triceps and chest to back, as this will ultimately increase your chance of injury and decrease your chance of an increase.
An effective upper body workout is frequently ignored by athletes. However, if you are serious about a jump increase then it’s important that you not ignore the upper body when targeting your workouts as upper body exercises definitely help increase jumping ability. It is critical that your workout focuses on your upper body and lower body so that your body continues to work as one unit and does not suffer any harmful imbalances.

One of the most common questions coaches hear is from athletes wanting to quickly and easily increase their vertical jump. This article will reveal some powerful power coaching tips.
Your jump can be defined as your jump minus your standing reach. The standing reach is performed with both feet together and flat on the ground and with your arm extended as high as you can above your head.
A true vertical measurement test is always taken without taking any kind of step first. It is possible to increase vertical jump through stretch and power training like the methods I’m about to reveal below.
One of the best strength exercises to quickly and easily increase your jump are step ups, lunges and squats. These are all compound movements that are very effective when performed correctly.
Step ups for increasing vertical jump are performed in an upright position and holding dumbbells and simply stepping up to a bench a step or a step up box which is ordinarily 16-18 inches in height. It is critical that you perform this step up exercise with your knee at a ninety degree angle.
Squats for increasing your leap can be downright dangerous is they are not performed correctly. However, they can do a lot to strengthen and increase your leap if done with care and by following explicit instructions. If a squat is performed incorrectly it will lead to injury rather than any increase in vertical.
Low back injuries are caused by the athlete leaning too far forward in the upper body. Knee problems come about as a result of too much forward movement of the knees.
How to perform a squat correctly
The bar should be across your upper back and not your neck. Your chest should be out with only a very slight lean forward and your back tight. Your knees should be directly above your feet at all times with no exceptions.
Keep your weight on your heels at all times. For best results I would suggest that you get a trained coach, athlete or gym staff member to analyze your squatting technique in order to avoid any injury. Lunges to increase vertical jump can be done with or without dumbbells or, alternatively, with a bar across your upper back.
In order to perform a lunge correctly stand in an upright position and step as far forward as you can until the front knee is at a 90 degree angle. Be sure not to lean forward at any stage. It’s best to perform these lunges ten times with one leg and then ten times on the other leg.
There are also power exercises that will help you give explosive and fast movements upwards. These power exercises include plyometrics, power cleans and also weighted box jumps.
With consistent power training methods athletes can increase their vertical in a matter of weeks.
