There are many good and simple exercises that will improve your vertical, but not necessarily your quickness. Some programs are great for teaching speed but just average for jumping.. So you need to combine both elements in your workout.One simple exercise that is a must in order to improve your speed is Wind Sprints: sprint for 50 meters, then rest for 20 seconds. Try to do this 3 times a week and you will see improvement soon due to increased leg strength.Jump Rope is another solid exercise to utilize for your vertical jumping program. Try to jump rope 4 times a week with 200 jumps per session to improve your calf strength and really add to your leaping ability by making you more explosive. Finally, plyometric exercises are very popular and effective. Here are three of them:Depth Jumps &#8211; For this exercise you need a 2-3 feet-high box. Get on top of the box. Drop off and jump back in the air as soon as you land.Leap ups &#8211; Start with your legs straight, then go down to a 1/4 squat position and jump in the air with full strength.Thrust Ups &#8211; Jump up and down as high as you can without bending your legs.Two things are crucial here, the right number of repetitions and the proper execution. Quality is what is critical here, not quantity. It is very important that you find a good workout plan that teaches the proper technique for each manuever. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Jumping higher has been the dream of a lot of people, especially sports enthusiast who are amazed by the amazing feats of players done way above the ground. These seemingly impossible feats could only be achieved through one thing &#8211; that is vertical jump training. </p>
<p>Through the effective use of leg muscles, people could generally jump great vertical distance, as long as they have properly conditioned and well-trained leg muscles. These well-conditioning and training are generally incorporated in vertical jump sessions available in most of the gymnasiums and sports centers in the country. </p>
<p>By employing basic exercises like, ball handling, ball throwing, squatting, jump rope activities, and other jumping routines, these sessions are able to generate the awe-inspiring feats that we see happen in different sports arena. </p>
<p>Vertical jump training is also the reason behind world records and successful basketball, volleyball, track and field, and football players we have today. Because of the intensive training these players receive from vertical jump sessions, their legs empower them to beat the odds and seal their names in the hallmarks of sports history. </p>
<p>If you can jump higher, you will be able to make every jump look better and you will be able to do more jumps. </p>
<p>Vertical training is a perfect combination of weight training for strength and plyometric training for speed. You have to train with weights if you want to increase your vertical leap. </p>
<p>This type of training will not cause you to gain weight and bulk up so you don&#8217;t have to worry about that while training. </p>
<p>So what type of exercises do you need to do to increase your vertical? </p>
<p>Squats are a great exercise that will increase the strength of your legs. These should be done with very strict form and with weight that is comfortable until you have the proper form. </p>
<p>Cleans are another great way to develop extra strength and also require very good form.  Make sure you start with very light weight until you can do them properly. Always have someone that is trained in exercise science teach you the form. </p>
<p>The above two paragraphs are great for strength gains, you then have to train for speed with plyometric exercises. For these you will get a plyo box and do jump training on the box.  You want to stay away from doing high repetitions on the boxes because that will train you muscle endurance more than your maximum jump height. </p>

Â Power Leg Presses â Add weights to a leg press machine.Â  Put feet far apart and high on the plate.Â  Bring it down slowly until your knees are even with your chest.Â  With great quickness and force, push the plate back. Make sure the motion is quick but steady.Â  Do not go slow.Â  Let muscles rest between sets.Â  Do 3 sets of 8 repetitions.Dead Lifts â Of course you are going to work on legs in your vertical jumping workouts.Â  Did you consider that your lower back and erector muscles are important too?Â  The strongest muscles in your back are the erector muscles. Vertical jumping exercises should include strengthening this area. While holding a weight bar, arch your back and bend your knees.Â  While holding the bar, bring yourself up. Lower the bar back down slowly. Perform the first 3 sets of 6 reps steady but fast. Rest between sets. When you do the next set, do it slowly to feel your muscles flex fully.Medicine Ball Dunk &#8211; Act as if you are going to slam dunk.Â  Instead of using a basketball, use a heavy medicine ball.Â  Amplify the movements as you reach for the rim.Â  Just donât dunk the medicine ball!Â  Push yourself.Â  Do this until you are too tired to perform it properly.Increase your vertical jumping by adding these three exercises with other jumping exercises.Â Â  Donât waste your time or energy.Â  Make sure you know how to do them correctly.To get the most out of your vertical jumping exercises, you should think about a jumping program.Â  The good ones can help you in every area critical to improving your jump.Â  The best ones even have a mentor to make sure you are doing everything right. </p>
