The most common reaction in front of something like this is:&#8221;Wow, He&#8217;s a natural talent, i&#8217; ll never be able to do this&#8221;. This is false! Everyone, properly trained, can achieve the goal of jumping more than 40inches. It won&#8217;t be immediate nor easy, but i assure you it&#8217;s possible and during the workout you&#8217;ll start seeing immediate results but remember, to jump like a champion you have got to focus on your entire body: legs are important, but the upper part of your body is just as foundamental as your lower part. If you purely focus on your legs you&#8217;ll end up ruining your performances and wasting time. A good program must be customizable to your weaknesses and athletic needs, and therefore the presence of a skillful guide is foundamental, otherwise you may even hurt yourself, and this is definitely something we all want to avoid! I am a professional basketball player, and after this introduction i want to share with you my experience and give you some (i hope) precious advice so that you can finally fly like a rocket. A serious workout increases your strength as well as speed and explosiveness, since it&#8217;s totally useless to have the capacity of exerting a great force upon the ground if you cannot exert it quickly and explosively. To be able to do this you have to combine weight training with running and a good diet, which is often an overlooked aspect in most vertical jump workouts. Eating well has a primary importance in your training, since a lot depends on how healthy you are: if you have extra pounds of fat it would be better to lose them, because trying to (successfully) dunk being overweigth is like trying to win a marathon with an heavy bag on the back! It doesn&#8217;t just work legs but lungs too, which are extremely useful since basketball requires great resistance. You don&#8217;t want to fall on the floor not being able to catch your breath! -Abdominals: six pack abs are not needed, but it&#8217;s important to burn exceeding fat in order to weigh less and to fly higher. -Jump rope so that your legs are more toned. -Stair running: you can do this wherever and whenever you want, even at home! -Toe Raises: this improves your calf muscles.  The aforementioned exercises are the ones i prefer and which have most helped me. Hold onto the weights with your legs shoulder length apart, forming a 90 &#8211; 100 degree angle. </p>
<p>Perform the lifts while keeping your back straight. Do 3 sets of 10. 2) Full back squats &#8211; Full back squats with weights is one of the most basic excerice that is used to add strength to your quads and hamstring, thus giving more room to add explosion to your vertical jump. There are many sports where the vertical jumping ability of the athlete determines his or her success. Outstanding examples of sports where vertical jumping ability comes into play are basketball and volleyball. In dance, ballet wins this award. Clearly, there is a direct relationship between one&#8217;s ability to jump vertically and their running speed &#8212; especially running speed over shorter distances. Many sports organizations will go so far as to actually test prospective recruits&#8217; ability in vertical jumping.To calculate one&#8217;s current vertical jumping height is fairly simple. Mark the fingertips of your strongest hand and then from a standing position, jump as high as possible and touch the wall &#8212; then measure that height. Now from a standing postion using the same hand bit without jumping, reach as high as possible and mark the wall with chalked fingertips. Simply subtract this measurement from the previous jump measurement to arrive at your own vertical jump height. The measurement of the jump is flawed if the athlete is permitted to take one or more steps before jumping, as the athlete will convert some of the energy developed in the step taken into the force of propulsion that generates upward lift.Vertical jump strength stems from leg muscles utilized in explosive movement so it is necessary to develop those muscles in a similar fashion used to develop other muscles within an athlete or dancer&#8217;s body. Jump height limitations are directly related to fiber distribution in the dancer or athlete&#8217;s leg muscles. These fibers are known as fast-twitch and slow-twitch fibers. This distribution is a genetic determination. The more fast-twitch fibers a dancer or athlete has in their leg muscles determines faster muscle contraction thereby increasing one&#8217;s speed. Unfortunately, those dancers or athletes who possess more slow-twitch fibers than fast-twitch fibers won&#8217;t be able to jump as high as those who possess more fast-twitch fibers than slow-twitch fibers.Out all vertical jump development exercise programs, plyometrics is considered to be the best.
